IWBF Announces International Technical Officials Selected for 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games
The Calgary Basketball Officials Association is saddened at the loss of Rick Cescon, who passed away Wednesday after a lengthy illness. Rick was a member of CBOA for over twenty years, working most of it at the ACAC level. He was an outstanding referee who officiated numerous City, Provincial, and National Championship tournaments. Rick also gave back to his colleagues as an active mentor to developing officials. The CBOA sends its condolences to the Cescon family, as well as the staff, students, and alumni of Bishop Grandin High School.
The exam will, once again, be completed online (gameplanbasketball.ca).

The Calgary Basketball Officials Association is very pleased to announce that long time CBOA member, John Weiland, will be inducted to the Basketball Canada Hall of Fame, class of 2019.
John remains a fixture in the Calgary basketball scene, and many of our members will recall the advice or encouragement they received from him after a high school or club basketball game.
However, John's impact on the game is truly international and long lasting. He officiated international basketball for over 20 years, including FIBA Eurobasket (1985) and the 1988 Seoul Olympics, as well as 17 CIS championships. Awarded the Canada Basketball J.A Wilcox Award, and inducted to the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 2005 (among numerous other honours), John Weiland remains involved in referee development as a national referee coach.
